Mythos in the Media: A Great Time to Be a Gamer

Greetings Mythos fans, starting this week we are going to be bringing you cosmically horrific links and news from around the web about twice a month. Be it gaming, fiction, music, movies, or Great Old Ones forbid…real-life; if it’s cool news concerning Lovecraft or the Mythos it’ll show up here.

Find something amazing we haven’t posted? Drop a line to Simeon and put Unspeakable! in the title.

Without further ado, lets see what we’ve found this week.

  • Arkham Mass.I have a soft spot for old design, especially from the 50’s. Artist Steve Thomas must have one as well, because he’s gone and made a series of Lovecraft country travel posters
  • Do you like open world PC gaming? How about Innsmouth? If you want to see the horrors of Lovecraft come to life on your computer screen then game developer Frogwares may be where you need to turn. They will be at the Game Developers Conference showing off The Sinking City.
  • The biggest news in Mythos gaming this month of course comes from Kickstarter. Sandy Peterson (yes of Call of Cthulhu fame) has just launched a huge Kickstarter project to bring the Mythos to Pathfinder. It aims to include adventures, rules, a bestiary, miniatures, and probably more. It’s already well past its goal so go check it out!
  • Live on the west coast? Need something to do from April 29 – May 1? Well then, you should be attending The 7th Annual H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival in San Pedro, CA. Its funding was a success and looks to be a ton of fun!
  • And finally, if fiction is what you crave then check out the new Lovecraftian anthology “Cthulhu Lies Dreaming: 23 Tales of the Weird and Cosmic“. With stories from the likes of Greg Stolze and Mike Davis with a forward by Ken Hite you couldn’t possible go wrong.

That about wraps it up for this addition. Until next time, stay sane.
