Now that The Unspeakable Oath 21 is available in print and in PDF, we have completed the four-issue subscription commitment that we made when we relaunched the Oath at the end of 2010.
Making the new subscription available took a little thought. Because the Oath’s schedule can sometimes be erratic, at first I resisted opening up a new subscription option for the next few issues. But I’ve had lots of people asking for the chance to renew their subscriptions so they don’t miss out. At the same time, when we first relaunched the Oath we kept the subscription price equal to the full cover price of each issue. That annoyed some subscribers, since we’re all used to getting a discount if you sign up for a subscription rather than buying the issues one at a time, but we were just getting started and didn’t have a firm way to predict how things would turn out.
I’m happy to have seen since then that not only is our subscriber base enthusiastic and our reviews glowing, but we’ve had great response to the digital edition of the Oath in PDF and great support from sponsors who advertise in each new issue.
So for the new subscription, issues 22 through 25, we’re setting the subscription price at only $30, which is about 25% off the cover price. We still have to add a shipping and handling fee, since mailing four separate issues adds up, but the subscription discount will help offset the shipping costs. For subscribers in the U.S., for instance, the total cost is about equivalent to buying the issues one at a time in person, but with the convenience of having all four issues mailed to you as soon as they’re printed.
